Wat Chedi Luang
This is one of the travel destinations in Chiang Mai. Though this ruined temple was built long ago, it still stands firm today. In fact, it is one of the most well-known temples in the city. The construction was finished around the 15th century. The primary building is pretty tall, reaching 60m in height. It also consists of four different sides. Each one has a stairway flanked by mythical snakes. They can also be called dragons. There is still confusion about these terms, but they are actually interchangeable. There are also elephant statues here. It is still used to this day by the locals as a place of worship, no wonders there are several monks that visit the temple on certain occasions. It is not only impressive from the outside, but the interior is just as stunning. Inside the temple, you will see the round columns to support the ceiling. There is a Buddha just beneath the ceiling.
Wat Phra Singh
With so many travel destinations in Chiang Mai, it makes sense that you feel confused. Here is the thing, Chiang Mai has so many temples. Therefore, you should start your trip by visiting some of those temples. Of course, there are many other points of interest, but we think you must come to Wat Phra Singh at least. It is one of the most interesting temples as far as architecture is concerned. You can even feel impressed at first glance. There is a large wiharn around and the front section is uniquely carved.
Plan of Wat Phra Singh
There are many other travel destinations in Chiang Mai. Before we mention the next one, we have to talk about the Plan of Wat Phra Singh first. It is built on a high stone base. That is not the only awesome part as the base also has plenty of great carvings all over it. They were all improved recently. Take a walk around the complex and you should come across a drum tower being surrounded by large trees.
Doi Suthep-Pui National Park
After visiting the temples, you must proceed to Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. It is only 16 km away from Chiang Mai. The National Park is located on Doi Suthep. There is a sacred temple here, too. It is arguably one of the sacred ones especially in the northern region.
